SJANA

Hello hello!
I’m Sjana, (pronounced "See - ah - nah") but my friends call me SJ. I've had the privilege of the human experience for 27 years and I’m just your typical Aussie girl!
I'm a sunshine seeking, happy being, yoga doing, hug giving, ocean loving, travel enthusiast!
500hr RYT Certified Yoga Instructor, and more recently a published author to "You Will Rise" a poetry and photography collection book.
I have grown up on the East Coast of Australia my entire life in a place called Newcastle in NSW. Personally, I think Newcastle is the worlds best kept secret! Quiet but not boring, we have the best sunrises and our town is full of surf and beach culture! I have the best memories from my childhood here... My two older brothers (Josh and Sam) and I running around like giggling monkeys! Always up to some sort of mischief together haha!

I consider myself one of the luckiest people in the world, because I get to do what I love and call it a job! I have managed to make a career for myself by mixing yoga, travel, writing, modelling and photography all together!
It has been hard work, and it hasn't always come easy! But following my passions and the curiosities that lead me to be where I am today, has certainly been one of the most rewarding and meaningful things I have done in my life.

I'm what most people refer to as an "old soul"... An eighty-five year old woman stuck inside a 20-something year old body
I'm not in to drinking or partying etc. You won't find me out clubbing, instead I will be sitting at home, burning incense, journalling, doing yoga, meditating, reading and indulging in some self-love rituals.

I experienced bullying, anxiety and depression throughout my teen years and have grown so much stronger because of and through those challenges.
This hardship changed me a lot, and also taught me so much about the world and about myself; my values, my hopes, my passions and even my purpose.

It tried countless different treatments, psychologists & even medication, but it was my discovery of yoga that aided me in finally recovering.
I'm now happy and confident about who I am.
I'm not perfect, but I'm content and proud of the person I have chosen to become. I am constantly trying to better myself, and encourage others to do the same. I consider this my dharma, my purpose.

I can now finally say that I am happy, proud and confident in myself as a human, a woman and a being of liberation.

These days, I try to use my experience to help other people struggling with anxiety and depression. I want to be like a big sister to anyone who needs it. I want to show others, especially other girls, how beautiful life is, and just how extraordinary it can be if only we allow it to be.
I try to practise what I preach and live by example. I want other people to know that no matter how dark your life may seem - there is always something to be thankful and there will always be light at the end of the tunnel.
I try to be a good example for anyone battling their own mental health issues and seeking happiness and hope in their lives. I am a firm believer in supporting and empowering all women and girls to be confident in themselves and to focus on being their own unique kind of best. I believe that ALL women deserve to feel empowered and confident in their own skin.

Through my own personal experience, I have learned that yoga is an invaluable tool for the enrichment of life for people of all ages. Yoga helps me feel stronger, healthier and all round happier! And I want to encourage others to try it for themselves in the hopes they may feel and see similar benefits for themselves.

For me, good health is all about the balance between body, mind and soul. Yoga found me at a time when I feel I needed it the most, and it has become very much a part of who I am and a way of life. I want to help women to feel confident in their bodies, and to feel empowered by what they can do. Even if you’ve never done yoga before, it is an amazing way to strengthen your body and to calm your mind. It has helped me grow through some of life’s biggest challenges, and I hope my experiences can help you too!
If you want to learn more about my personal challenges in life and the experiences, strategies, information and opportunities that have helped me, have a browse through all of my blogs, and see if there is anything you can relate to.
Love and light,
Sjana x
