Just leaving Oahu, Hawaii and I get the message from home that the snow is simply dumping down in the NSW Snowfields. A little bit of excitement and eagerness to get home to the Aussie winter kicks in when the invite for a weekend at Perisher Resort comes up. I just have to get home from LA, grab my snow gear and get my snowbunny-butt on the road to a weekend of fresh snow, great company (thanks @samearp @mincmagazine and @moetownmowgli), perfect accommodations (thanks Perisher Resort) and the fantastic runs at Perisher. Sam and I make a road trip of it (it takes about 4-5 hours from Sydney) which reminds us of the family skitrips when we were kids.
Australia has some seasons which produce incredible snow and skiing conditions, while other years can be pretty ordinary. So when the message gets out that we have a snowstorm and fresh snow - most ski-enthusiasts will make the effort to get down to the southern alpine regions and ski while we can - the best skitrips are usually those spontaneous ones. And this one did not disappoint !!
